The Sigmons

Candy (mom) is Finn's daytime Mommy while I'm at work during the week. We feel so blessed to have found her, as she loves our little sweetie. When Candy found out I was shooting pictures on the side, she asked me to do a shoot for her family. Her husband, Brian's parents own this fabulous piece of land in Denver with old wooden fencing, horses, barns, a pond, a covered bridge, open land and flowers. The location was a dream!

Here are a few of my favorites:

Such a beautifully "blue" family

Loving the camera

One of my all-time favorites

Sisterly love

Wonder what the secret was? Must've been a good one!

Catelyn

Love the fabulous red background

Meghan

Brian, Candy, Catelyn, and Meghan were wonderful subjects for this shoot!

Brandi Lightner

Everybody, meet Brandi Lightner. Brandi is a college friend and roommate, who asked me to do a quick photo shoot this past October to have some headshots for business as well as for her family. We had a nice breakfast at Toast in Davidson, then walked the Davidson College campus to take the pictures. Here are my favorites:

Business

Pleasure :)

In her black and gold

Isn't she beautiful?

My fav!

Can't go wrong with such a photogenic subject!

The Killians

This is my latest shoot, and one that I am most proud of. These lovely people are the Killians. Leslie (mom) and I met at Rock Springs Elementary, where we were paired together to teach 1st grade. We made the perfect couple and kids always said they wanted to be in "the twins class" (some say we look alike). Leslie was in my wedding, as was her daughter, Hattie, as a flower girl. Pictures were taken at the entrance to Verdict Ridge, and the Killian's new home.

Here are some of my favorites from their family shoot:

Conley and Hattie

My favorite! Stole this idea from pinterest.

Ew! They're kissing!

Miss Hattie

The beautiful Killian family

Sibling love

I whispered to Conley to kiss Hattie on the count of 3. Priceless!

Such sweet innocence

I am obsessed with pictures of feet :)

I am in love with their wreath

Nothing is quite as fun as doing a shoot for your closest friends. And Leslie thought I wouldn't get any good ones! Ha!

Hovis Girls

I had the opportunity to capture the Hovis girls this past December. Regina (mom) wanted to find a rustic barn for the shoot. She recommended one that was fantastic, but had all these "No Trespassing" signs up. I'm no daredevil. I didn't want any headlines reading, "Local teacher and assistant principal jailed for trespassing during Christmas photo shoot." So...we used this random old barn on busy Hwy 73 by Southlake Christian Academy. We also did some photos on the railroad tracks by the Duke Energy Dam. Since the shoot, the railroad tracks have been taken apart for some reason. Kinda makes it special that we captured photos somewhere that no longer exists.

Here are a few of my faves of Baylee and Becka:

Sweet sisters

Telling each other jokes

Baylee helping Becka climb a tree

1..2..3...jump!

Don't let go!

Trying to walk the tracks without falling

Bye Mom!

I love old barns, so if anyone knows of any that 1) don't have "no trespassing" signs up and 2) aren't in high traffic areas, let me know!

The Clements girls

Betsy, Katie, and Caroline are our trusted and true dog sitters. Pretty much any time we go away, they keep Louis and Ella for us. The pups LOVE the Clementses. As a thank you, of sorts, I did this shoot for Betsy so she'd have photos for Christmas cards. Katie was quite the ham, and definitely has "model" in her future!

Sweet sisters

It was a gloomy day, almost raining...but we made the most of it.

Lovely flower girls

Chasing birds

Getting their toes wet

My favorite

Sweet feet

I hope the Clementses continue to keep our pups so I can continue to capture their pretty faces!

The Caldwells

After I finished my first photography class, I wanted to do a shoot for practice. Leah and Kevin Caldwell have adorable twin girls, Carsyn and Camdyn! I asked Leah if I could spend a few hours with the girls one day to get some practice and hopefully some pictures she may be able to use to frame or for gifts (or Facebook).

We started off at the park, and after only a few minutes of play, poor Camdyn got sick. We left the park right away for their home. Camdyn was feeling better after a little bit of rest, and was right back at it.

Here are a few of my favorites:

The girls at play

Camdyn in the tunnel

Camdyn climbing

Carsyn...how can you resist this face?

Back at home, feeling better.

Carsyn

Sweet faces

...and look what poor Leah has to look forward to:
Camdyn is already on the phone!

This is another shoot I'd love to do over now that I know a little more about editing.

Abby and Tim's Wedding

When Abby asked me to shoot her wedding, I was so excited...and nervous! One only marries once (we hope) and a photographer can capture the memories perfectly or completely ruin any chance at photographs that will accurately portray the joy that was felt that day. That is an awfully heavy burden. Abby and Tim married in July of 2011 in upstate New York. This gave me the perfect excuse to take a New York vacation with my husband, Pat, before the baby came.

I had SO MUCH FUN shooting Abby's wedding. She was such a laid back, happy bride. I never saw her get stressed once. After the wedding, I seriously thought about changing my career to wedding photographer. Unfortunately, paychecks aren't guaranteed in that business, so I stuck to education.

Here are some of my favorites:

Abby's antique ring

The beautiful bridal gown

Abby's dad walking her down the aisle

Saying their "I do"s

The bride with all her flower girls

The wedding party

The newly married Dobs'

My favorite part: dessert. Cupcakes!

This was too funny to pass up

These little girls LOVE their Aunt Abby

The very last picture of the night. The party was that good!

Do you ever do something, look back at it after a couple of months, and wish you could re-do it? I wish I knew then what I know now about editing pictures. Sometimes I have the desire to go back and re-edit the whole wedding. But, I have a wedding booked in September and I will have the chance to perform my new editing tricks with those photos. I am so excited for the next wedding!
